PLEASE NOTE:  All news items should be sent to Sarah Botez, our Secretary in the Church Hall at gapo1876@outlook.com no later than 5pm on the preceding Wednesday, preferably by email or in writing. These should be as concise as possible as sheet content some weeks can be ‘heavy’. Priority will be given to items relating to Christ Church and St. Oswalds's, Newton mattersthose relating to other activities can only be included if space permits.


Spire The next issue of Spire is due to be published next Sunday, 25th March, please let the Vicar have copy for this by 18th March.

Prayers the Sentamu Way - in Church on Friday mornings from 9.45 to 10.15am.  Please come and join us if you can – Angela, Jan, Elaine, Geoff, Frances, Enid.

Hymns – The hymns this month have been chosen by The Vicar.

Funerals – The funeral of Peggy Bland will take place at Teesside Crematorium on Tuesday, 20th March at 1.00pm. The funeral of Rev’d Ron Smith, former Vicar of Brookfield, will take place at St. Marks’ Church, Marske, on Wednesday, 21st March at 12 noon.  The funeral of Frank Wise will take place in Christ Church on Friday, 23rd March at 1.00pm.

Annual Parochial Church Meeting – In the Christ Church Hall on Wednesday, 21st March at 7.30pm.  All welcome.  The Annual Report is now available at the back of Church and on the Church website.

A Quiet Day at Ampleforth - to be led by Father Kevin has been booked for Monday, 21st May from 10.00am to 4.00pm. The cost is £30.00 including lunch and coffee/tea breaks. Places are limited so please let Enid know ASAP if you want to come.

Christ Church Visitors – If you know any member of the congregation (past or present) who would appreciate a regular visit from a member of the group please pass details to Rosemary Wheway on Tel:  01642 722451.

Children in Distress - Please remember that we collect the following which can be turned into cash for the charity - used stamps, postcards, printer cartridges (except Epson), foreign coins and mobile phones. They can be left in the black box at the back of church on the north side.  N.B.  All ink Cartridges must be empty before putting in a plastic bag to avoid any leakages, and please don’t put mobile phones in same bagThank you.

Welcome Packs - The Visitors Group are constantly looking for people new to the village!  Please contact Helen Dickinson on 01642 724450 if a pack is needed.

New Switches - Please use the new switches on the right hand side of the electric cupboard for lights and heaters. Do not use the fuses/tripper switches any more in either electric box. We’ve been made safe – let’s keep it that way!

Coffee - is usually served after our 9.15am service. We are pleased to welcome visitors and newcomers to our church and you will find us in the Coffee Lounge through the double doors on the north side of the church.

Greetings Cards

Please don’t throw away your Greetings cards, they can be recycled for the Children’s Society.  All you need to do is leave them in the labelled box at the back of Church.
