News items from our Service Sheet
PLEASE NOTE: All news items should be sent to Sarah Botez, our Secretary in the Church Hall at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than 5pm on the preceding Wednesday, preferably by email or in writing. These should be as concise as possible as sheet content some weeks can be ‘heavy’. Priority will be given to items relating to Christ Church and St. Oswalds's, Newton matters – those relating to other activities can only be included if space permits.
Spire The November issue is due to be published on 28th October. Please let the Vicar have copy for this no later than 21st October.
Funerals – The funeral of Brian Lee will be held at St. Oswald’s on Friday, 12th October at 2.30pm.
Christ Church Visitors - The next meeting is on Friday, 19th October, at 1.45pm in the Upper Room. If you would like to join the group as a Visitor or know any member of the congregation (past or present) who would appreciate a regular visit from a member of the group please pass details to Rosemary Wheway (722451) as soon as possible.
New Daylight - the next meeting will take place at the home of Claire Lowes (Wheatlands) on Thursday, 25 October. You are welcome to come if you have not been before - more information about the meeting from Claire or Enid – please let one of us know if you can come.
Coffee - is served after our 9.15am service on Sunday mornings in the Coffee Lounge. If you are new to our church or are just visiting, please make yourself known to someone - you are most welcome.
Prayers the Sentamu Way - in Church on Friday mornings from 9.45 to 10.15am. Please come and join us if you can – Angela, Jan, Elaine, Geoff, Frances, Enid.

Children in Distress - Please remember that we collect the following which can be turned into cash for the charity - used stamps, postcards, printer cartridges (except Epson because they have a microchip in them), foreign coins and mobile phones. They can be left in the black box at the back of church on the north side. N.B. All ink Cartridges must be empty before putting in a plastic bag to avoid any leakages, and please don’t put mobile phones in same bag. Thank you.
Welcome Packs - The Visitors Group are constantly looking for people new to the village! Please contact Helen Dickinson on 01642 724450 if a pack is needed.
New Switches - Please use the new switches on the right hand side of the electric cupboard for lights and heaters. Do not use the fuses/tripper switches any more in either electric box. We’ve been made safe – let’s keep it that way!
Coffee - is usually served after our 9.15am service. We are pleased to welcome visitors and newcomers to our church and you are welcome to join us at the front of the Church immediately following the service.
